Mark Drew’s 622ci LH Torana

This stunning orange LH Torana is the newest car built by Victorian drag racer Mark Drew. It’s been built to compete in ultra competitive Modified Street class and is powered by a 622ci Chev that cranks out over 1200hp and has got the car down the track in 8.4@166mph. The smoothed engine bay, boot and body have been painted in a custom Glasurit orange with Mark doing his own work on the panels. Underneath is where he has really gone to town, Powerglide, sheetmetal nine-inch diff, wilwood brakes are the major components. Not content with 8′s, Mark is planning on nitrous so we should see his awesome looking Torana run a 7.

Leisa & Shane’s PSYCHO Falcon

Featured back in Novembers issue of Street Machine, Leisa and Shane’s two door XF Falcon is a stunner built to the highest standards. So apart from the obvious two door conversion this falcon has many other major modifications and many small ones too. Chopped roof, suicide doors, reverse opening bonnet, custom sheet metal bumpers, bonnet, hood, inner guards, and floor are the big body mods. Another highlight on this amazing creation is that a central touch screen computer controls the whole car, from starting the engine to activating the windscreen wipers. The XF has been taking out top awards everywhere it goes in Australia.

Summernats 25, 2012

In January I traveled up to the nations capital, Canberra to witness the biggest custom car and horsepower festival in the world. Summernats 25. I joined the Street Machine team to take photos of the action for the main magazine as well as the Summernats Annual. Can’t wait to do it again!

Brad’s 721ci 1934 Ford

I shot Brad’s insane 1934 Coupe for Street Machine’s Hot Rod Annual 2011. Stuffed between those vented cowls is a massive 721ci Donovan donk which makes over 1000hp with ease. Other cool touches are a Racepak dash, suicide doors, dry sump and a four link. Its fair to say the power to weight ratio is outta control!

Fast Lane Speed Shop

Out in the country town of Ballarat lies one of Victoria’s best and coolest workshops. I was lucky enough to visit Fast Lane Speed Shop; owned by Daniel Cassar, for Street Machine magazine. Inside there were many projects on the go, with Mick Collett’s FC, Daniel’s own 1933 Ford and Tony Ciabarra’s EH being standouts in bare bones form. Daryl’s FJ

Daryl Angus owns this sweet 1954 Holden FJ. Its coated in mile deep PPG Ego Grey paint, and powered by a 350ci Chev with three Rochester carbs. Daryl wanted to lose the FJ’s jacked-up 80′s stance so the guys at Fast Lane Speed Shop raised the floor (8 inches in some sections) of the FJ to give it the perfect body-dropped, rims-tucked look you see in the photos. White walls, with red steel rims and a killer red leather interior finish off the FJs 1960s look. As seen in Street Machine, Feb 2012.

Twin Deuces

These two stunning 1932 Fords, both similar with their 60′s styling were shot together for Street Machine’s Hot Rod Annual 2011.

The jaw dropping HOK Pagen Gold five-window coupe is owned by Jamie and Carrie Camilleri. Power comes from a highly detailed 292ci Y-block topped with six Stromberg 94s. White tuck and roll trim adorns the interior and the boot. A look underneath will amaze with its detailed chassis, suspension and driveline .

Alan Smart’s Tudor is coated in PPG Crunch Metallic and looks just as great underneath as above. Making it move is a tri-Stromberg’d 270ci Dodge Hemi with Lakes pipes. The interior features a ’40 Ford dash, Chevy wheel and Corvette bucket seats. Chrome Radir rims and frenched ’59 Caddy taillights finish off the awesome exterior.

Chopped 2011

Held in Newstead, Chopped is most likely the coolest event in Australia. Only pre 1965 cars and old british & US bikes help set a traditional scene. All weekend dirt drags, bands and a super rad tiki bar max out the fun for entrants and spectators. Get there in 2012!

Route 66
